He Kākano Te Reo

He Kākano Te Reo is an immersive, beginner-friendly journey into the heart of the Māori language, utilizing the proven Te Ataarangi methodology to make learning both visual and tactile. By using rākau (coloured rods) as a bridge to understanding, students bypass the need for translation and instead build a direct mental map of the language through seven progressive levels. The course begins by establishing identity through Kupu Ingoa, Pūmau, and Tae, quickly moving into the logic of Nama and descriptive patterns. As the lessons advance, you will learn to direct movement with Tohutohu, connect complex ideas using Kupu Hono, and understand spatial relationships through Tohu Wāhi and Ngā Tātai. By the final stage, you will be confidently engaging in conversation, using Pātai and Kupu Āhua to ask questions and add rich detail to your speech.
